INSTILL pictures presents: Tales from the Playa
A photographic diary of the Burning Man by Serdar Unal

Every year in August, a phenomenon takes place in Nevada. As people that share nothing but an open mind cross the state border and jam the unlikeliest of roads, a city comes alive in the middle of the hostile nothingness called Black Rock Desert. As citizens welcome each other home, camps, streets, and incredible works of art spread out, circling the Playa.

When all you have is all you could carry, the burning dry heat, sudden and dense dust storms, and unexpected down pours can help to rethink what really is important. Here, money is useless, norms are irrelevant, neighborhoods are friendly, and priorities make perfect sense. For one week a year, there's a place on earth where self expression, creativity, and tolarance is as valuable as water.
